Big Match Stats

August 28th, 2009 by admin

The first meeting of the present Big Four this season takes place this weekend when Arsenal visit Manchester United.

Arsenal’s recent free-scoring form is in stark contrast to their Premier League record at Old Trafford.

They have failed to score in ten of their 17 attempts and scored once in each of the other seven.

In other words, the Gunners have yet to score twice in a Premier League game at the home of the current champions.

Of course, they’ll be looking to avoid a repeat of the 1-6 defeat they suffered at Old Trafford in February 2001. It remains their heaviest loss during the Arsene Wenger era.

Both teams are on the verge of notable all-time club records.

Manchester United have won 999 home games in the top flight while Arsenal have scored 2,499 goals in their away games in the top division.
