Merseyside Clash In Cup

The draw for the Fourth Round of the FA Cup has produced some tasty ties, including a few local blockbusters.

Liverpool will host the Merseyside derby in what was the first game to be drawn. The East Midlands also sees Derby County go head to head with rivals Nottingham Forest.

Today’s victors Manchester United face an all Premier League clash at home to Tottenham Hotspur after they comfortably beat ten man Southampton at St Mary’s. Danny Welbeck gave United the lead before Saints’ Matt Paterson was sent off for a lunge on Nemanja Vidic. Nani then doubled lead the from the penalty spot with Darron Gibson completing the win.

Aston Villa, who saw off the challenge of Gillingham at Priestfield with James Milner’s penalty giving the visitors a 2-1 victory, will face either Cheltenham or Doncaster Rovers away.

The two non-league sides definitely through to the Fourth Round have been rewarded with home ties. Kettering Town play hosts to Premier League Fulham while Torquay United were drawn against Coventry City. The draw for the fourth round in full is as follows:
