Giggs Goal Saves Champion’s Blushes

Ryan Giggs scored a late equaliser at Celtic Park as United came from behind to snatch a point.

Celtic had taken the lead through Scott McDonald’s delightful first half chip.

However, United hit back in the 83rd minute, when Arthur Boruc was unable to hold a stinging shot from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Giggs reacted as well as any goal scorer, poaching on the re-bound to save Manchester United from defeat.

Dimitar Berbatov then missed a golden chance to steal it for the visitors in the final minute, but this would have been harsh on the home sides resolute defending.

Elsewhere, Arsenal’s poor recent form continued as they played out a goalless draw with Turkish giants Fenerbache.

Alessandro Del Piero handed Juventus their first win at the Bernabeu in 46 years with an impressive brace.

Even the home fans had the grace to rise and applaud the veteran as he was substituted in injury time.

The defeat now leads Real Madrid with some work still to do going into the final two games of the group stages.

In Group G, Lucho Gonzalez scored a last minute winner to grab victory for Porto in Kiev against Dynamo. He was then subsequently sent off for his celebration, following a second booking.
