Attwell At Centre Of Controversy Again

Bolton beat Manchester City for second win

Rubin Kazan claim Russian title for first time

The Nuneaton born official was the talking point after a explosive final ten minutes in the game between Derby County and Nottingham Forest, awarding the home side a very soft penalty, and then scrubbing off two goals for the Rams.

The game finished 1-1, but didn’t come to life until the second period when the visitors took the lead, with Villa putting through his own net. The striker then wrote his wrongs by pulling the Rams level.

However the main talking point of the game was the performance of Attwell, who is no stranger to criticism having being the referee during the Watford Reading game which produced the ‘ghost’ goal.

The second Derby disallowed goal seemed to mystify every individual present at Pride Park, including Paul Jewell: “The referee lost control and I think the occasion was too much for him. It’s a great goal. You look and Forest aren’t even complaining. I have never felt so aggrieved in my life.”

A goal and assist from Ricardo Gardner was enough for Bolton to see off Manchester City at the Reebok Stadium.

The first half substitute, provided the impetus needed for the home side to grab only their second, and much needed, home win of the season.

Rubin Kazan clinched the Russian Premier League title after a 2-1 victory over FC Saturn.

Former Aston Villa striker Savo Milosevic clinched the title with just three minutes to go, to take the title away from Moscow for only the second time in the last decade.
