Liverpool continued their lacklustre start to the season in the Champions League qualifier at Anfield tonight but once again they managed to conjure up a win when Dirk Kuyt struck deep in extra-time to give them a 1-0 win in the match and on aggregate.

As with the first leg Liverpool had ‘keeper Reina to thank for keeping them in the tie especially with a great save from Mbokani’s long range effort in the first half. They will now go into the draw for the group stages alongside the other three English teams tomorrow (Thursday 28th).
