In an extraordinary game Turkey came back from two goals down to knock the Czech Republic out of Euro 2008. Jan Koller opened the scoring with his 55th international goal in 90 games and Plasil made it two when the Turks were down to ten players due to an injury.

Turan have the Turks a chance when he made it 2-1 in the 75th before a howler from the normal reliable Petr Cech gave Turkish captain Nihat Kahveci a simple tap-in and with just one minute to go of normal time the captain made it 3-2. There was added drama when Turkey’s goalkeeper Volkan Demirel was sent off in injury time, but the Turks held out to qualify.

In the other game Portugal, who had already qualified, rested nine players and lost 2-0 to co-hosts Switzerland with Hakan Yakin scoring twice in the 71st and 83rd minute, the second from the penalty spot.

Derry City winger Pat McCourt is set to complete a move to West Bromwich Albion after the clubs agreed a transfer fee.

Germany have been boosted ahead of the crucial Group B match against Austria with the news that Lukas Podolski and Philipp Lahm will be fit to start.
