Holders Greece went out at the group stage after a 1-0 defeat by Russia that followed a 2-0 loss to Sweden in their opening game of the campaign.

Konstatin Zyryanov scored the winner from close range in the 34th minute after Sergei Semak cashed in on Greek keeper Antonis Nikopolidis’s mistake.

Spain booked a Euro 2008 quarter-final spot after David Villa’s last-gasp goal sank Sweden and Russia beat Greece.

Spain took the lead on 15 minutes with a clever move that ended with Fernando Torres poking home David Silva’s cross. Sweden levelled when Zlatan Ibrahimovic met Fredrick Stoor’s cross on 34 minutes.

Premier League, Football League, Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League fixtures for 2008/09 will be announced at 10 o’clock on the 16th June.

Nottingham Forest striker Junior Agogo is set to leave the City Ground and sign for Egyptian side Zamalek Sporting Club for an undisclosed fee.
