David Beckham has been named England captain for Sunday’s friendly against Trinidad & Tobago. The 33-year-old will be making his 102nd start for his country. Fabio Capello has hinted that he will give some of the youngsters in the squad a chance.

Liverpool’s Ryan Babel has been ruled out of the Dutch squad for the Euro 2008 squad after suffering an ankle injury in training on Saturday, a replacement will be drafted into the squad.

Four Scottish clubs are waiting to apply for membership to the Scottish Football League should Gretna go out of business next week. Spartans, Annan Athletic, Preston Athletic and Cove Rangers are all preparing applications.
