No fairytale finish for Mandaric

Millwall and Spackman part company

—– Portsmouth concede their first Premiership goal of the season as they lose 0-1 to Bolton Wanderers at Fratton Park, and miss the chance of going back to the top of the table.
Kevin Nolan’s first-half volley earns Wanderers their first away league win since December.
Meanwhile, Bolton boss Sam Allardyce confirms he plans to sue the BBC after the allegations of corruption made against him in last week’s Panorama programme.

We welcome your views and descriptions of matches. On the spot and even conflicting views of what has happened offer a fuller historical picture than any single ‘official’ version ever can. By adding your comments and reviews, you are contributing to the history of the game.
Although we appreciate a bias in favour of your club, without exception, foul or abusive language will not be tolerated. This is very much a family website - indeed we are keen to encourage younger club statisticians to get involved.
Of course, please ensure factual statements are correct at all times.

For acceptable examples, go to Liverpool v West Ham United FA Cup Final or last season’s Arsenal v Juventus Champions League match pages via our Members Area. Please feel free to add to them or any other matches on the database. Thank you.

—– Bolton’s win at Fratton Park denies Milan Mandaric a fairytale tale ending as he formally steps down as chairman of Portsmouth.
He took over seven years ago when Pompey were sixth from bottom of the First Division and in administration. With a victory tonight, he would have left them as leaders of the Premiership.
An emotional Mandaric says: “It’s sad but I am very happy and proud. Looking around and looking back I should say that I am very proud to be walking out in front of these supporters, and to leave them in the shape they are in today.
“It is a sad time, but a good time to walk away.”

—– There’s not such a happy departure at the New Den where manager Nigel Spackman leaves Millwall ‘by mutual consent’ after only four months and ten league games in charge.
Relegated last season, the Lions would be bottom of League One but for Rotherham United’s ten-point deduction.
Millwall have lost all of their last five games despite a massive change of playing staff during the former Liverpool midfielder’s short reign.
His assistant Willie Donachie is placed in temporary charge while Millwall look for their sixth manager since reaching the FA Cup Final two years ago.
