Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink put Celtic ahead after 21 minutes but United soon equalised via a Louis Saha penalty before the French striker swept home a second.
Shunsuke Nakamura’s free-kick put Celtic level before the break but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hit the winner shortly after the re-start.
