- Following a long illness, it is announced that the legendary Tottenham Hotspur keeper Ted Ditchburn died yesterday. The former England goalie joined Spurs from Northfleet in 1939 and was an ever-present in the 1950-51 championship-winning side. From April 1946 to March 1954 he missed just two games and made a total of 452 appearances for his only league club. He was 84.
