The Norwegian’s strike was officially timed at 43 seconds to become the quickest goal in the 45 Football League Cup Finals.

The ‘old’ record had lasted only twelve months as it was set in the 2004 Final when Joseph-Desire Job’s opener for Middlesbrough against Bolton Wanderers was timed at 1 minute 45 seconds.

The previous holder was Stoke City’s Terry Conroy, also against Chelsea, after five minutes of the 1972 Final at Wembley.
